OLCC Captures Imposter Inspector

OLCC Captures Imposter Inspector

Written by Ammon J. Ford, Attorney at Gleam Law, PLLC.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) recently apprehended 27-year-old Marshall Nicholas Hladun after he attempted to defraud several Eugene, OR businesses. Scam artists and frauds attack every industry, Oregon’s bars and restaurants included.

The OLCC discovered Hladun after being tipped off by employees at a bar where he impersonated an OLCC inspector and demanded copies of sensitive records. The bar employees he confronted demanded to see his OLCC identification badge before turning over any records. He said he had left them in his car and reportedly fled the scene.

According to an OLCC press release issued April 27th, all inspectors are required to carry identification and an OLCC badge when performing official duties. If you find yourself facing questions from an OLCC agent who has not shown their identification, ask. It may just save you from theft, fraud, or worse.

Hladun is charged with felony coercion, misdemeanor attempted coercion, and unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm.
